Before and After of Eliza Strawbridge

C74DC2C2-7279-400C-9D28-48C8AC5F0E78Two hundred years ago 10 year old Eliza Strawbridge stitched her beautiful sampler that depicts Adam and Eve, as well as a shepherd and shepherdess tending their sheep. I love how colorful she made her original sampler and, as it celebrates its bicentennial this year, the colors still shine through. I kept these colors in my reproduction. I especially love the two sheep grazing under the tree with the bird perched above. And the border is just striking with her masterful use of color.  I really enjoyed bringing this piece back to life to enjoy another two hundred years.

Nashville 2019

Victorian Rose will have two new releases in the Hoffman booth at Nashville in two weeks. The first shown here is Honnor Harrison 1835 stitched on 36 Lakeside Vintage Lentil with Needlepoint Inc silk.  Honnor resides in the sampler collection of Victorian Rose Needlearts. The second reproduction being released is Amelie Lambert’s sweet homage to her parents first stitched in 1844. Amelie is stitched on 32 ct Picture This Plus Legacy linen using Needlepoint Inc silks. Amelie Lambert is in the Whitman Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and is reproduced with the permission of the museum.  A conversion to DMC has been provided for both.
