Frances Kimber, 1876

Frances Eliza Kimber lived up to her namesake with this sampler stitched when she was only 8. The last name Kimber refers to a 7th century warrior princess who staunchly defended the Christian faith and founded an abbey. Frances included the beatitude from Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Zweigart 32 ct Cream with DMC is recommended. The stitch count is 196 x 218 with cross stitch used throughout. The original was stitched on an unevenweave linen, but due to availability we have chosen to chart it for 32 ct linen, which just makes it a bit squarer than the original
